It’s Monday, and I know you’re busy. This feel-good wellness tip will only take a minute
Simple is Not Always Easy
Recently, a woman raised her hand in my workshop and declared with great enthusiasm:
When I eat a healthy breakfast in the morning, it changes the whole tenor of my day!
Heads began to nod. Knowing smiles appeared on faces. Chatter was heard going back and forth in agreement.
Then she continued with the dreaded, BUT . . . (I really hate that word.)
BUT, I just don’t have time before work to make it happen for myself!
Heads began to nod. Knowing smiles appeared on faces. Chatter was heard going back and forth in agreement.
Hmmmm . . . I’m Confused
How is it that a self-proclaimed, life-altering wellness practice, such as eating a healthy breakfast, ends up feeling like a daily request to scale Mt. Everest before punching the time clock at work?
Breakfast can (and should!) take less than 10 minutes to prepare, and minute-for-minute, it packs a powerful wellness punch. (feel free to Tweet me on that!)
It’s a golden opportunity to begin your day with a BOLD statement supporting your commitment to live your happiest, healthiest life. Not to mention, there’s real science to back up the benefits of break-fasting:
- People who eat breakfast weigh less, not more. If you’ve set a weight loss intention this year, this should be enough to convince you.
- A protein packed breakfast has staying power. It will get you through donut hour at work. Another convincing reason.
- Breakfast is the perfect meal to include a serving or two of fiber (fresh fruit, a whole grain). Fiber regulates blood sugar and cholesterol levels, protecting you from an untimely death. Need I say more?
3 Helpful Tips & 3 Healthy Breakfast Ideas
1. If you love your snooz button as much as I do, prep your food the night before. Remember: It will change the whole tenor of your day!
2. Keep it simple! Make it fast! 10-minute breakfast challenge . . . Go!
3. Pack it to go if you can’t eat first thing in the morning. Eat it before 9am—or before the office donuts arrive—and you can still call it breakfast.
You CAN Do This!
My minute is up, and you have places to go and wellness to seek. I’m in . . . are you?
Feel Good. Be Well. Meg
Will the breakfast eaters out there please help me convince the breakfast skippers to join our club? What’s your go-to breakfast and estimated prep time?
